PUPILS TO KEEP IT ZIPPED FOR MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT

Teachers at St. Ninian’s Primary School, Newton Stewart enjoyed a rare treat recently when pupils kept quiet for Macmillan Cancer Support’s annual sponsored silence, The Big Hush.

Pupils rose to the challenge and remained silent for an incredible one hour. And by doing so raised a whopping £360.00, all of which will go directly towards Macmillan’s vital services.

Mr. C. Flanagan, headteacher said, “I’d like to say a huge thanks to everyone who took part in The Big Hush and made this event such a success. The children did well to keep quiet for such a long time and should be very proud of themselves for raising money that’ll help people affected by cancer.”

Pupils from around the UK took part in The Big Hush as part of Macmillan’s Cancertalk Week—a week of fun activities designed to increase awareness of cancer and reduce the fear surrounding the disease.

All money raised will help fund specialist Macmillan nurses and doctors who deliver the best in cancer care; build vitally needed treatment centres; give financial help to those who need it most; and provide a range of cancer information both locally and nationally.

Congratulations

To our Quiz team who represented the School at the Rotary Club Primary Quiz and came out clear winners. They were up against much bigger schools (10 in all) and faced some stiff competition.
